COVID-19: Shehu Sani Tells Buhari What To Do Before Paying N400bn For Vaccines

The former Senator who represented Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani has urged the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari to make power supply available before paying for COVID-19 vaccines.

The lawmaker in his message via a Twitter post on Monday, 28th December, noted that without adequate power supply to keep the vaccines at the needed temperature of minus 70 degrees celsius, paying such a humongous amount may end been a waste of money.

Apart from the power supply, he also reminded the government of adequate storage facilities needed for the vaccines.

His Twitter post read: “To the federal government: Before you Credit N400 Billion to #COVID19 vaccine manufacturers, make adequate provisions for storage facilities and emergency power supply that can preserve them at minus 70 degree Celsius. It is not our normal fridge oh, ehen.”

Naija News recalls the federal government through the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, on Wednesday, 16th December, noted that Nigerians should expect to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by the end of January 2021.

Ehanire made this claim during the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The Minister noted that a technical working group in the Ministry of Health is working on which vaccine will work for Nigerians.

In a related development, the National Coordinator of Presidential Taskforce (PTF) on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, declared that the Federal Government has ordered that when COVID-19 vaccinations commence in the country Nigerians will get it for free.

He revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari had given the PTF the mandate to proceed with preparations with regard to the vaccine.

Aliyu said: “The President has also given us a marching order that the COVID-19 vaccine be made available in Nigeria.
