48% Of COVID-19 Patients In Lagos Are Asymptomatic – Abayomi

48 percent of COVID-19 patients in Lagos State are asymptomatic and do not know they carry the virus, this is according to the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi.

Naija News reports that the Lagos Commissioner made this known at a briefing in Alausa on Monday.

According to Abayomi, 16 percent of the COVID-19 cases currently in the state were severe cases, while one percent are in critical condition.

He said, “48 per cent of people infected with COVID-19 have very mild symptoms or even asymptomatic. Some of them don’t even know they’re carrying the virus.”

This newspaper reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 838 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria.

The newly confirmed cases bring Nigeria’s total infection to 84,414 with 71,034 discharged so far.

The disease control agency also recorded 1,254 unfortunate death.
