Some yet to be identified gunmen on Tuesday, December 22 reportedly killed one Mr Ishaku Gata in Kogi State.

Naija News understands that the deceased is the husband to Hon. Hassana JB Ishaku, the vice-chairman of Kogi local government area of the state.

Reports revealed that Mr Gata was assassinated alongside one other person whose name is given as Joshua Jonah. The horrible attacked that happened at Tanahu was reportedly carried out by five-men gang who stormed the community in army uniform community.

Naija News learnt that the two victims were attacked while returning from the farm. Confirming the report to newsmen, a member of the victim’s family who narrowly escaped the attack, David Jerry, said he was returning from the farm with the deceased when five armed men laid ambush on them around 9:48 am on Tuesday.

According to Jerry, “five of them including the deceased, boarded motorcycles to the farm to harvest sesame seeds, when the gunmen laid ambush on them.” He noted that he and two of his siblings managed to escape through the bush and trekked about two kilometres before arriving at neighbouring Adabo village.

“Two of my other brothers and I had to trek two kilometers inside the bush as the gunmen were pursuing us but we were saved by God,” he added.

However, the remains of the deceased are said to have been deposited at the Federal Medical, Lokoja, and their motorcycles recovered. On his submission to the incident, Spokesmen of the Kogi State Police Command, DSP William Ayah said the two deceased were abducted in their homes and taken to the bush, contrary to the other testifier’s claims, Naija News observed.

He said the police have commenced investigations into unravelling the circumstances behind the incident while efforts are on to arrest the killers.

In another news, Naija News reported that a 36-year-old man has been arrested by men of the Nigeria Police Force in Kano State for doing away with goods worth eight million naira from a warehouse in the state.

The event, confirmed by the state police command spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, revealed that Salmanu Mohammed was trailed and nabbed by a team of officers while on the run on Thursday, December 24.
