Coronavirus: NCDC Confirms 1,041 New COVID-19 Cases In Nigeria

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday evening, 24th December 2020, confirmed 1,041 new cases of Coronavirus disease infection in Nigeria.

The new cases of COVID-19 infection were confirmed via a statement on the official Twitter handle of the health agency.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 81,963 which includes 69,651 discharged cases and 1,242 deaths.

Below is the breakdown of the latest cases according to states with Lagos State having the highest number of cases followed by Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Meanwhile, passengers travelling into Nigeria from the UK and South Africa will need to fulfill certain fresh COVID-19 requirements as from 28th December, the federal government has announced.

The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu announced on Thursday in Abuja that effective from December 28, 2020, apart from other general international travel requirements, passengers from these two countries are required to familiarize themselves with the new requirements.

Aliyu explained this is due to the discovery of the new strain of COVID-19 in both countries and the need to protect Nigerians.
