Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, on Tuesday, disclosed the role he played in the release of the abducted students of Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina State.

Gov. Matawalle while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday stated that the abducted schoolboys were released in his state before they were moved to Katsina.

He further stated that repentant bandits played a major role in the negotiation that led to the release of the students.

He said, “As soon as the (Kankara) boys were kidnapped, we stepped in. We reached out to repentant bandits in the state. Negotiations were made and that was how they were released. The boys were released in Zamfara before they were moved to Katsina.”

Naija News had earlier reported that the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Tuesday disclosed that repentant bandits aided the release of the students of the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina.

Shehu while speaking on the development that led to the release of the schoolboys noted that the most important thing is that the boys have reunited with their parents.
