Some credible and commendable revelations have been made of late Professor Habu Galadima, the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong in a statement through his Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPA), Dr Makut Macham, on Monday, December 21 while consoling the family of the former NIPSS head, said his absence will be greatly felt.

He noted that Galadima is “an astute scholar of international repute, administrator and professional who demonstrated uncommon commitment in carrying out every responsibility he was assigned.”

According to the governor, Galadima was a huge loss to the country, the academic community in Nigeria and the diaspora, and most especially his immediate family.

Naija News reports that Prof. Habu Galadima died on Sunday, December 20 at the age of 57 after a short term illness. The NIPSS leader’s death was made known in a statement signed by the Secretary/Director of Administration of the organisation, Brid Gen CFJ Udaya (retd.)

“Since he assumed office one year ago, Galadima had injected a fresh impetus in the management of the nation’s apex policy and strategic institution by introducing new concepts that made research seamless even under the current COVID-19 pandemic,” Lalong added.

He revealed further that the deceased did “did a lot to improve the physical infrastructure of the institution while strengthening the academic experience for all course participants. He will be greatly missed.

“The late erudite scholar has over the years contributed a lot to the educational development of Plateau, having studied and taught at the University of Jos for many years before his appointment as the DG of NIPSS.”

Governor Lalong, however, prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest and comfort his family, the management and staff of NIPSS.

In another news, Naija News reports that the Nigerian government has been advised to allow every citizen to own weapons so as to defend themselves from banditry attacks.
