COVID-19: Lagos Govt Gives Update On Sanwo-Olu’s Health

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State says any malaria-like symptoms should now be considered and treated as COVID-19 until proven otherwise.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has said he is feeling much better in isolation and will soon resume public activities after testing positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Naija News reports that the governor made this known in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile.

The statement released to newsmen on Monday was titled, ‘Update on COVID-19 status of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu’.

He wrote, “I am happy to inform you that the Governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is much better. He is, however, still in isolation and receiving home-based care.

“We are waiting for a complete clearance of the virus so that Mr. Governor can resume public activities.

“We wish to thank Lagos residents and the general public for their prayers and well wishes for our dear Governor and Lagos State COVID-19 Incident Commander.”

Recall that Sanwo-Olu had proceeded on self-isolation after one of his close aides tested positive for COVID-19.

The state health commissioner, Akin Abayomi, had announced on December 12 that the governor tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday evening, 20th December 2020, confirmed 501 new cases of Coronavirus disease infection in Nigeria.

The new cases of COVID-19 infection were confirmed via a statement on the official Twitter handle of the health agency.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 78,434 which includes 68,303 discharged cases and 1,221.
