Gunmen Attack Customs Officers Near Navy Base In Abia

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have reportedly attacked the convoy of the Emir of Kaura Namoda, HRH Sanusi Muhammad Asha killing eight persons.

Those killed during the attack include three policemen who were part of the Emir’s security team and five others in the convoy of the traditional ruler.

Naija News understands the attack occured on Thursday night along Zaria-Funtua road while the Emir was on his way home from Abuja but the monarch excaped unhurt.

“The Emir was in his official vehicle with a Toyota Hilux forming part of the convoy,” a palace source told Hum Angle.

“He didn’t sustain any injury but we lost eight occupants of the Toyota Hilux including the driver, two palace guards, three police escorts and two traditional title holders, they were all killed by the gunmen.”

Though the palace was yet to release an official statement as at the time of filing this report, the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagogo confirmed the incident happened in Funtua, Katsina State but declined giving more details.
