Former Lawmaker Arrested Over Links With Boko Haram Terrorists

Security operatives have arrested a former Cameroonian lawmaker, Blama Malla for alleged involvement in the activities of the Boko Haram terrorist group.

It is understood that the former legislator was arrested based on the confessions of his nephew identified as Talba who was earlier picked up by security operatives while leading a herd of cattle to Nigeria which he claimed he bought at Meme.

Talba during interrogation claimed he was taking the cattle to Nigeria where they will be handed over to members of the Boko Haram terrorist group on the instructions of the former lawmaker.

Malla, a former member of parliament of Cameroon’s ruling party, the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement (CPDM), is being held in the Mora gendarmerie brigade in the Mayo-Sava division of the Far North Region.

“The former CPDM parliamentarian is being interrogated by gendarmes for colluding with the Boko Haram terrorist sect,” a security source told HumAngle on Wednesday.

“It all started with the arrest in Kolofata of a certain Talba who is a nephew of the former parliamentarian. At the time of his arrest by members of the Kolofata vigilante group, the suspect was leading a herd of 10 cattle he said he bought at Meme with his final destination being Nigeria.”

“During the course of his interrogation, the suspect Talba, known in the Kerawa locality as a member of the vigilance committee, admitted that the cattle were destined for elements of the Boko Haram terrorist sect adding that he was taking them to Nigeria on the instructions of the former member of parliament who is currently the Vice President of the CPDM permanent commission in Mayo-Sava as well as member of the Central Committee of the CPDM, Blama Malla,” another security source declared.

Both Blama Malla and Talba are currently in the custody of security operatives and are being interrogated at the Mora territorial brigade of the national gendarmerie.

Meanwhile, Naija News recalls the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari has denied claims by the Boko Haram terrorist group that it is responsible for the kidnap of students from the Government Science Secondary School in Kankara LGA, Katsina State of Nigeria.

The Governor on Wednesday disclosed that local bandits were responsible for the kidnap of the secondary school students.

He made the disclosure while speaking on a Channels Television programme noting that information at his disposal shows that local bandits attacked the school and not Boko Haram fighters.

When asked further if he believes the local bandits might have had help from outside the governor said there are “signs” that bandits enjoyed external help.
