A former Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Simon Sayomi, is dead.

The development was confirmed by the deceased son, Ola, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Ilorin.

Ola in his statement noted that his father died in his hometown, Igosun in Oyun Local Government Area of the State.

According to him, the former deputy governor died after a brief illness.

“He died on Wednesday night between 9:30 pm and 10:pm. He was born in Oct. 10, 1925.”

“We will miss him because he was a hero to us in everything.”

The deceased was the deputy governor of Kwara State from 1999 to 2003 under the administration of late Muhammed Lawal.

They, however, lost their re-election bid to Bukola Saraki during the 2003 governorship election.
