NSCDC: Marginalization And Abnormality Against The HND Graduates

It is no longer news that the Fed Govt of Nigeria has abolished the dichotomy and disparity between the BSc and HND graduates in all the MDGs.

It could be recalled that on 9th of Aug, 2016, the Executive Director of the Board, Federal Ministry of Interior through the Executive Secretary of the Board issued a memo which contained the abolition of the dichotomy and disparity between the BSC and HND graduates.

Consequently, some of the parastatals like Nigeria Customs Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Nigeria Immigration Service as well as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other Ministries, Departments and Agencies directed the full implementation of the above policy and moved all their HND graduates who were recruited into the service to grade level 08.

Though, it was gathered that they didn’t issue any letter of advancement to that effect. In the year 2019, some HND graduates who were recruited into NSCDC in 2012 weren’t allowed to write promotion exams into the next rank.

Meanwhile, their counterpart from other sister agencies like the Fed fire service, Nigerian Custom service, NDLEA and the likes were allowed to sit for the exam and the successful candidates were promoted to the next rank (Grade level 09).

Naija News learnt that while all the para-military in the federal agencies of Nigeria are preparing for promotion exam, the NSCDC management has excluded all the HND graduates who have not for once sat for any promotion exams since they were recruited into the system in 2012, while their mates in the same federal ministry of the interior like the Nigeria correctional service, the Federal Fire Service and Nigeria Immigration Service are eligible and preparing for the exam next week 19th December 2020.

This act of marginalization and abnormalities in the service will reduce the morale of the affected personnel, thereby productivity and performance will be low.
