1. Buhari Sacks Pondei, Appoints New NDDC Administrator

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr Effiong Okon Akwa as the Interim Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

This was made known in a statement on Saturday night by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.

Following Akwa’s appointment, Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei the former administrator of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) has relieved of his position.

2. Sanwo-Olu Tests Positive For COVID-19

The Commissioner of Health in Lagos State, Akin Abayomi, on Saturday, announced that the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has tested positive for coronavirus.

Recall that Sanwo-Olu went into self-isolation following his contact with persons infected with COVID-19.

The Commissioner in a statement released on Saturday disclosed that the governor is being treated at home by medical experts in the state.

3. Lekki Shootings: CNN Rejects Lagos Judicial Panel’s Invitation

The Cable News Network (CNN) has rejected a summon by the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution of Victims of SARS Related Abuses to appear before it today, December 12, to give evidence on their reportage of the #EndSARS Lekki shooting.

The CNN stated that the judicial commission lacks jurisdiction to summon its reporters to appear before it since they are not based in Nigeria.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has lambasted the Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Wike stated that the leadership of the party is not working towards reclaiming power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.

8. Nine Boko Haram Members Killed By Nigerian Army

The Nigerian military says it has killed nine Boko Haram members in two days and wounded several others.

In a statement posted on its social media page, the security centre said its troops from Operation Lafiya Dole had successfully killed four militants on Banki Road in Borno State on Tuesday, December 8th.

The statement added that troops also killed three members of the group on Tuesday on the Firgi-Pulka road, injuring several others.
