1. Gov. Sanwo-Olu Goes Into Self-Isolation Over COVID-19 Fears

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has proceeded on self-isolation after one of his close aides tested positive for COVID-19.

This was confirmed in a statement on Friday by the Lagos Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi.

According to the commissioner, the aide, whose identity wasn’t disclosed to the public tested positive to the virus on Thursday, 10th December.

2. Nigerian Ambassador To US, Sylvanus Nsofor Dies At 85

Mr Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor, the Nigerian ambassador to the United States of America had died at the age of 85.

Nsofor gave up the ghost in Maryland hospital, Washington DC on Thursday, December 11.

The late Ambassador assumed his role as Nigeria ambassador to the US three years ago following the demise of his successor, Prof. Adebowale Adefuye, who died while rounding up his tenure then.

3. Fr Mbaka Speaks On Attack On BBC Reporters In His Church

The spiritual director of the Adoration Ministry (AMEN), Rev. Fr Ejike Mbaka, has reacted to the allegation levelled against him by BBC team claiming that they were attacked by the cleric and his members.

The cleric in a statement released through his spokesperson, Maximus Ugwuoke, noted that he and his church members are not aware of the presence of the BBC team on the Adoration ground.

4. Why APC Postponed Membership Validation/Registration Exercise – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) postponed its membership validation/registrations exercise because Nigerians did not show interest.

Naija News reports that the APC had announced that the exercise, which earlier scheduled to kick off on Saturday, December 12, 2020 has now been shifted to the second week of 2021.

6. 2023: Ebonyi Governor Dave Umahi May Run For President – Femi Adesina

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media, said Ebonyi Governor Dave Umahi could run for president in 2023.

The president’s spokesman made the announcement in an article published on Friday titled ‘Dave Umahi’s Heart of Lion‘.

He wrote that the All Progressives Congres (APC) has not yet fielded a nomination system so Umahi has the right to run for any government seat if he has enough supporters to lead him to victory.

7. North Harbours Six Most Dangerous Terrorist Groups In The World – Nnamdi Kanu Alleges

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has condemned the statement of the Chairman of the Northern Elders Forum, Ango Abdullahi, against the South East.

Abdullahi had accused the people of the region of perpetrating violence against Northerners in other parts of the country.

Kanu while reacting to the statement of Abdullahi wondered which region was violence inclined between the South East and the North.

A Nigerian lady identified as ‘@Hermosa_Reinaa’ on Twitter, has condemned the invitation of Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA as a special guest at Shiloh 2020.

The lady called out Pastor David Oyedepo, the founder and presiding Bishop Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel International for bringing on Fatoyinbo to his yearly programme despite the clergy been accused of rape.

9. #EndSARS: Presidency Backtracks, Praise BBC

The Nigerian government has praised the BBC for its fairness in reporting on the EndSars protests.

In a message posted on his Twitter account, Malam Garba Shehu, the Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Media, said the Presidential Media Committee had discussed with the BBC and confirmed that the BBC had treated all parties fairly.

“Following concerns expressed about reporting of #endsars in Nigeria, the presidential Media team met with the BBC team to discuss the matter. We acknowledge that the BBC has reported extensively on all sides of this story. We are pleased that the BBC has heard our concerns.”

10. NCDC DG Lists States Not Conducting Enough COVID-19 Tests

The Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu, has accused some states of not conducting enough coronavirus (COVID-19) tests.

Naija News reports that the NCDC DG made this known during the presidential task force briefing on COVID-19, on Thursday.

He disclosed that Cross River, Jigawa, Kogi, Osun, Ebonyi, Adamawa and Zamfara were not conducting enough tests.
