Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, on Saturday ordered the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools in the state that was attacked by bandits.

Naija News reports that unknown gunmen on Friday night abducted an unspecified number of students of the Government Science Secondary School Kankara.

During an on-the-spot assessment of the school alongside Deputy Governor Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, Masari met with the school officials, some parents, traditional and religious leaders as well as security officials.

He asked residents to be patient and show restraint and understanding, assuring them that the government will do every necessary thing to ensure the release of all the abducted students.

Masari further assured that both the Federal and the state governments were doing their best to bring an end to banditry and other debilitating crimes in the state.

Naija News reports that a large number of students from a science secondary school in Kankara Local Government Area of ​​Katsina State were abducted early Saturday morning by gunmen.

“Armed men stormed Government Science Secondary School in Kankara LGA, Katsina State, northwest Nigeria, and kidnapped dozens of students from their dormitories early today. A missing persons count is currently in progress,” a source said.
