The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) postponed its membership validation/registrations exercise because Nigerians did not show interest.

Naija News reports that the APC had announced that the exercise, which earlier scheduled to kick off on Saturday, December 12, 2020 has now been shifted to the second week of 2021.

The ruling party noted that the decision to postpone the programme is to ensure participation of all party members in the light of the fast-approaching Christmas and new year activities which Christian members of the party will be fully involved in.

The APC had also during its recent National Executive Council (NEC) dissolved all state, zone and national structures of the party.

But the PDP, in a statement on Friday, by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the ruling party had become defunct and can no longer engage in legitimate political activities given the collapse of its structures across the federation.

He said the APC had gone down in history as a jinxed party that is synonymous to failure, deceit, falsehood, lies, lawlessness, treasury looting, poverty, hardship, sympathy for terrorists and bandits.

According to the PDP, the ruling party is mortgaging of Nigeria’s sovereignty, among other vices, which makes it impossible for any well-meaning Nigerian to seek to identify with it.

“Given their impunity and arrogance, nobody wants to join the APC which has become a derelict pirate ship, stranded and doomed in rough waters and only waiting for its final decent into political abyss,” he said.

“By abandoning the membership drive, the Governor Bala Mai Buni-led illegal APC national caretaker committee has come to its wits end, having realized that Nigerians, and even their members do not have confidence in his committee or the fizzling party.”
