1. You Lack Constitutional Powers To Summon Buhari – Malami Tackles NASS

The Attorney-General of Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), says the National Assembly lacks the constitutional power to summon President Muhammadu Buhari.

2. “Your Research Not Credible” – Nigerian Military Replies Amnesty International On Killings

The Defence Headquarters on Wednesday denied soldiers were killing aged people in the Northern part of the country as alleged in a recent report by international human rights organization, Amnesty International (AI).

The Nigerian Military in its response which was contained in a statement by the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche said it is important to clarify issues raised by the AI report.

3. ASUU Strike: We Will Shut Down All Private Universities If… NANS President

The newly-elected president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Sunday Asefon has warned that private universities may be shut down if the lingering strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) remains unresolved for much longer.

He noted however that the union will first try to mediate between the federal government and ASUU with a view to resolving the disagreements but if this move fails, then private universities will be shut down by the students association.

4. INEC: Prof. Mahmood Yakubu Takes Oath For Second Term

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, on Wednesday, took an oath of office for his second term.

Prof. Yakubu while speaking with State House correspondents disclosed that the preparations for the 2023 general elections have started.

5. I Have No Case To Answer – Maina Tells Court

The former Chairman, Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, on Wednesday told the Federal High Court, Abuja, that he has no case to answer in the allegation filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Maina through his counsel, Anayo Adibe, had told Justice Okon Abang, that he would be filing a no-case submission.

6. CAN Backs US, Says Christian Persecution Exist In Nigeria

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has stated that religious persecution exists in Nigeria, especially in the North.

Recall that the US added Nigeria for the first time to a religious freedom blacklist alongside China, Iran, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia.

7. Navy Releases Names Of 43 Personnel Wanted For Desertion

The Nigerian Navy on Wednesday declared 43 personnel wanted for desertion, requesting information on their whereabouts that could lead to their arrest.

In a circular containing the names and photographs of the deserters and displayed at the Navy Headquarters in Abuja, the Navy asked members of the public with useful information to report to the nearest Naval facility or Police station.

8. Fayemi Urges Nigerians To Focus On Governance And Not 2023 Election

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has called on Nigerians to focus on governance than discuss the 2023 presidential election.

Fayemi lamented at the state of things in the Local Governments in Nigeria despite huge yearly budgetary allocations.

9. Buhari Roasts CNN, BBC Over ‘Disgusting’ #EndSARS Protest Coverage

President Muhammadu Buhari has described as ‘disgusting’ the coverage of the #EndSARS protest by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and Cable News Network (CNN) and other foreign media.

Speaking at a meeting with state governors at the presidential villa in Abuja on Tuesday, Buhari said the foreign media coverage was not balanced.

10. Insecurity: Don’t Force President Buhari To Talk To NASS Or Else… Shehu Sani

The former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has warned that there may be unpalatable consequences if President Muhammadu Buhari is forced to appear before the National Assembly.

This he cautioned on Wednesday, 9th December in his reaction to the developing saga over the possible appearance or not of President Buhari before the National Assembly lawmakers who had summoned him over the deteriorating security situation in the country.
