The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday commended the conduct of the 2020 presidential election in Ghana.

The former Vice President noted that the success of the electoral process in the West-Africa side is an eye-opener for Nigeria.

Atiku stated this in a post on his Twitter account where he congratulated the winner of the election, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Atiku said, “Congratulations to President @NAkufoAddo on his reelection. The smooth conduct of the Ghana elections should be an eye-opener to our nation.”

“We must undertake far-reaching electoral reforms that address the shortcomings of our previous experiences and strengthen our electoral process.”

Naija News had earlier reported that the electoral commission in Ghana announced Akufo-Addo as the winner of the election on Wednesday.

Akufo-Addo had 51.59 per cent of the vote, to defeat his closest rival, opposition leader and former president Mahama who had 47.36 per cent.
