The Federal Government of Nigeria has appointed Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo as the acting Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).

Naija News reports that this was made known in a statement by Charles Akpan, Deputy Director/Head (Press and Public Relations) on behalf of the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN).

Keyamo directed Fikpo to take over the administration of the agency from Monday, 7th December 2020 in acting capacity pending ratification by President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the statement, the Minister in a letter to Fikpo dated December 8, 2020 titled “Appointment as Acting Director-General of National Directorate of Employment”, said: “Following the directive of Mr. President relieving Dr. Nasiru Mohammed Ladan Argungu as the Director-General of National Directorate of Employment, you are hereby directed to take over as the Acting Director-General of the Agency pending ratification by Mr. President.

“This is to ensure there is no vacuum in the administration of the Agency.”

Keyamoalso directed Fikpo to ensure a proper handover to him by Dr Nasiru Mohammed Ladan Argungu of all government properties in his possession.

Recall that Buhari on Tuesday relieved Dr Nasiru Argungu of his appointment as DG NDE.

The former DG was sacked in a memo issued last week Friday, December 4, 2020, taking effect from Monday, December 7.

Buhari also directed Festus Keyamo to appoint an Acting Director-General from the senior directors of the agency to replace Argungu.
