The former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has warned that there may be unpalatable consequences if President Muhammadu Buhari is forced to appear before the National Assembly.

This he cautioned on Wednesday, 9th December in his reaction to the developing saga over the possible appearance or not of President Buhari before the National Assembly lawmakers who had summoned him over the deteriorating security situation in the country.

Naija News recalls members of the House of Representatives had on December 1, adopted a motion calling for President Buhari to be invited to answer questions on rising insecurity in the country.

Though some of the lawmakers had objected to the move, Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila revealed later on Wednesday, 2nd December that the President has agreed to honour the invitation of the lawmakers.

This development was also later confirmed by the social media aide to the President, Lauretta Onochie affirming that Buhari will appear before a joint sitting of the National Assembly on Thursday, 10th December.

However, a few hours before the President’s scheduled appearance, there have been several reports suggesting Buhari will no longer appear before the lawmakers as planned.

Based on this development, Senator Sani has taken to his Twitter page to warn that Buhari should not be forced to talk to the National Assembly else it may result in a situation where Nigerians will blame themselves.
