The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, 7th December promised to deal decisively with all forms of unlawful protests in the country and those behind them.

He added that no protest or protesters will be allowed to threaten the peace and stability of the country.

2. Boko Haram: Record Shows Buhari Has Performed Better Against Terrorists In Borno – Zulum

The Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Zulum has rated President Muhammadu Buhari high in the fight against terrorists since he took over power in 2015.

He noted that despite the recent Boko Haram attacks in the state, the security situation has improved generally since the administration of President Buhari came on board.

3. CJN Tanko To Swear-In 72 New SANs Next Week

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad, will next Monday, Dember 14, 2020, swear-in the 72 legal practitioners recently named Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SANs).

Naija News reports that this was made known in a statement on Monday by the Director of Press and Information at the Supreme Court, Dr. Akande Festus.

5. #EndSARS: Police Speak On Viral Video Of Fresh Lekki Toll Gate Protest

The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police on Monday denied a fresh #EndSARS protest held at the Lekki Tollgate plaza on Monday, 7th December.

Reacting to some viral videos making rounds on social media platforms, the Lagos Police Command in a statement by its spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi labelled such videos as fake.

6. Reps Speak On Starting Impeachment Proceedings Against Buhari

The House of Representatives has dismissed calls for the commencement of impeachment proceedings against President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News reports that Kingsley Chinda, the member representing Obio/Akpor Constituency of Rivers State had asked members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to declare Buhari incapable of discharging his functions.

7. No Resumption Until FG Pays Withheld Salaries – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Sunday insisted that the union would not end the nine-month strike until the Federal Government pays all its members their salaries.

The President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, in an interview with Punch noted that government should not expect lecturers to resume without been paid.

8. ‘Militants Force Us To Spend Nights In Niger Republic’

Gunmen have forced residents of Gudu and Tangaza Local Government Areas in Sokoto State to flee their homes to the Republic of Niger to escape hostage-taking.

The militants have taken control of the towns, taking money from locals and forcing them to identify wealthy individuals who can be held hostage.

9. Senator Nyako Defects To APC

A former Adamawa Senator, Abdulaziz Nyako has dumped the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports that Nyako rejoined the ruling APC with his supporters and other members of the ADC.

10. Fayemi Declares Position On APC Zoning Presidential Ticket

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has rejected the idea of zoning the 2023 presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to a particular region.

Naija News reports that there have been calls on the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to zone their presidential ticket to the South, with some individuals asking the major political parties to micro-zone it to the South-east.
