The Presidency on Sunday congratulated the Senatorial candidates of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, Tokunbo Abiru and Obafemi Shared, on their victory in the by-election on Saturday.

The congratulatory message was released by President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in Abuja.

He noted that the victory of the party in the electoral process from different states shows that APC is the chosen party in Nigeria.

President Buhari’s spokesman said, “We do not take this confidence of the people for granted and we will not fail Nigerians who appreciate the efforts the administration is making to better the life of its citizens.”

“We thank them immensely for their trust in the party and government.”

The presidency also commended the Interim Management Committee of the party under the leadership of Mai Mala Buni, for their responsibility.

“We equally thank the Interim Management Committee of the party under the leadership of Mai Mala Buni, the Governor of Yobe, all our governors and parliamentarians.”

“President Muhammadu Buhari in particular is very pleased with the election outcomes.’

“The president also urged the party to uphold the spirit of “hard work, unity, progress, cooperation that form the bedrock of these victories.”

In a related development, the former Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson has been declared as the Senator-elect for Bayelsa-West Senatorial district after he won Saturday’s by-election in the state.

Dickson was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, after defeating his closest rival with a wide margin.
