Voters in Ghana will be able to cast their ballots on Monday even if their voter cards are lost, according to the Ghana Electoral Commission (GEC).

According to a BBC report, the Electoral Commission says a person will only go to his polling booth to say his registered name, which will be checked by election officials.

On the other hand, the GEC said it would use a voter identification device called Biometric Verification Devices (BVD) on election day.

The BVD device contains fingerprints and a photo of the face of each voter, so that if a person’s fingerprint could not be identified then his or her face was used.

President Nana Akufo-Addo of the NPP and former President John Mahama of the NDC will face off on Monday.

Only 27 parties will contest the election but it will be hotter between the NPP and the NDC.

Naija News reported earlier that President Nana Akufo-Addo and opposition candidate John Mahama signed a peace deal ahead of the voting in Monday’s presidential election.

The agreement was signed to ensure that the conflict did not erupt especially between the supporters of the two main candidates during the election and after.
