The Lagos State Police Command has restricted movement in some parts of the state ahead of the by-elections scheduled for Saturday, 5th December 2020.

The by-elections are to fill the vacant seats in the Lagos East Senatorial District as well as Kosofe 11 Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The restriction of movement will be in place between 6am and 6pm of Saturday, 5th December, 2020 and only those on essential duties will be allowed to move.

Announcing the restrictions, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu noted that both vehicular and pedestrian restrictions would be enforced in the affected Local Government Areas where elections will hold.

The restricted places are Somolu, Kosofe, Epe, Ikorodu, and Ibeju-Lekki local government areas.

He added that police personnel and other security agents will be on ground to ensure there will be no breakdown of law and order.

Similarly, no police aides or security agents will be allowed to escort their principals or any Very Important Personalties (VIPs) to polling units or on any movement while the elections last, the CP added.

Naija News gathered CP Odumosu spoke on Thursday 3rd December, 2020 while discussing with election monitoring officers deployed from the Force Headquarters, Abuja, to assist and monitor the elections in Lagos State.

The election monitoring team, which comprises two Commissioners of Police, some Assistant Commissioners of Police and other officers, are led by the Commissioner of Police, Community Policing, Force Headquarters CP Kola Okunola.
