The newly-elected president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Sunday Asefon has reacted to the controversies generated about his age.

Shortly after he emerged as the elected President of NANS, some reports suggested that he is already 43 years old while some others put his age at 45 and 48 years respectively.

However, Asefon while reacting to the controversies generated by his age, declared first of all that the NANS constitution does not have any age restriction.

He then added that he is 35 years old and a post-graduate student of the Department of Public Sector Governance and Administration, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.

He reiterated that he is neither 43, 45 nor 48years and he will not be distracted from his commitment to the emancipation of Nigerian students.

Asefon promised further that he will lead for the next one year to protect the interest of all Nigerian students nationwide noting that if ASUU, SSANU, NASU etc cannot be proscribed, the students union should never be proscribed in any campus.
