Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo and opposition candidate John Mahama signed a peace deal before voting in Monday’s presidential election.

The agreement was signed to ensure that the conflict did not erupt especially between the supporters of the two main candidates during the election and after.

The candidates were drawn from the National Peace Council in collaboration with IDEG BE.

President Nana Akufo-Addo, who is running for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is seeking a second term in office.

John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress [NDC] is also seeking a second term after leading Ghana from 2012 to 2017, replacing President John Atta Mills after his death as vice president.
