The Boko Haram faction loyal to Abubakar Shekau has claimed responsibility for the Saturday massacre of 78 rice farmers in Borno State.
The terrorist group in a new video it released claimed it killed 78 farmers in the Zabarmari area of Borno State because they arrested one of its members and handed him over to the Nigerian military.
It will be recalled as earlier reported by Naija News that the Boko Haram terrorists on Saturday, attacked and killed some rice farmers in Borno State.
The farmers, who are migrant farmers from Sokoto State were tied and slaughtered one after the other by the insurgents who also burnt their farmland.
Initially, 43 bodies were recovered and buried on Sunday after the unfortunate attack before members of the civilian JTF discovered another 35 decomposing bodies that were killed and dumped by the attackers.
The Shekau faction of Boko Haram has now claimed responsibility for the violent act in a newly-released three minutes 37-second video titled ‘a new message’, Hum Angle reports.
“You think you can nab our brother and hand him to soldiers and live in peace,” a masked commander of the group asked in the video.
“You think Allah will forget what you have done to our brother,” he added.
The commander in the video also threatened that a similar fate awaits others who spy and report them to military authorities.
“The third message is on those who notoriously nab our brethren and hand them to the military or give them a clue on us.”
“You should know that, unless you repent, what happened to your people is awaiting you,” he warned.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has insisted that the Boko Haram Terrorist group has been badly degraded and can only attack soft targets.
The Minister made the submission on Tuesday during a press conference where he described the recent attack by the terrorist group on some rice farmers in Borno State as an act of cowardice.
Earlier, in the wake of the Zabarmari massacre, Major-General John Enenche, the spokesperson of the Defence Headquarter, has lamented that some locals in the northeast are refusing to aide the war against Boko Haram.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Monday, Enenche said some locals have refused to provide relevant information to the military.
