Army Locks Down Delta Community Over Attack, Killing Of Soldiers

The Nigerian Army has killed two kidnappers early Monday in Kaduna State after attempting to abduct travellers on the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan said in a statement that one robber was killed in Kwanar Tsintsiya town in Igabi Local Government Area when he tried to arrest some passengers.

Also, 39 travellers abducted by gunmen on their way to Onitsha in Anambra State from Sokoto were rescued, according to Mr Aruwan.

One driver and one passenger were shot dead in a clash between gunmen and soldiers.

He added that the army responded to the call to repel a militant attack near the area, and on their arrival recovered 69 cows and killed one robber.

On Sunday evening, several hostages were rescued on the Kaduna-Abuja road in Kachia Local Government Area.
