‘Buhari’s Gov’t Borrow Money On Consumption And Not Productivity’ – Peter Obi

Former Anambra State Governor and 2019 Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Peter Obi has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari’s led government over huge borrowings on consumption.

According to the politician is a tweet on his verified Twitter account on Monday morning, November 30, 2020, Nigeria’s biggest challenge at the moment is that the government keep borrowing money on consumption and not on productivity. Obi noted that the country can not borrow it way out of the current situation as its stands now.

He said, “We cannot borrow our way out of our situation. Our biggest challenge is that we’ve been borrowing for consumption and not for productivity. -PO”

Recently, Peter Obi as part of his reaction to the news that Nigeria’s economy has entered into another recession said Nigeria wastes too much resources on unnecessary things.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has announced that not less than 25 million Nigerians are going  to benefit from the proposed off-grid solar home systems across rural communities in the country.

The  initiative would see consumers pay ₦4,000 monthly, as announced by the Federal Government, Naija News reports.
