The Nigeria Defense Headquarters says it has killed five Boko Haram and ISWAP members on Friday in Borno State.

A statement from the army’s director of publicity, Benard Onyeuko, said troops had clashed with gunmen in the towns of Garal and Bulankesa, killing two militants and wounding others.

On Friday, clashes broke out in the Ashigashiya region, killing two terrorists and confiscating food supplies.

The military also killed a Boko Haram member in the Doksa area, recovering an AK-47 assault rifle, two mobile phones and a Boko Haram identification card.

Meanwhile, the funeral of 43 farmers slaughtered by Boko Haram militants was held on Sunday at their farms in Zabarmari, Borno State.

Amnesty International says 10 women remain unaccounted for after the attack, working at a rice farm in the town of Koshebe in Zabarmari.

Sixteen of those killed were internally displaced persons, Amnesty said.

Residents told Governor Zulum, who presided over the funeral, that they had not yet determined the number of victims.
