Biafra: List Of Nnamdi Kanu’s Loyalists That Have Quit IPOB Job

The crack in the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has taken a new dimension with Nnamdi Kanu‘s loyalists resigning their positions in the proscribed secessionist group.

Naija News reports that that the Indigenous People of Biafra is a Biafran separatist organization in Nigeria which was founded in 2012 and is led by Nnamdi Kanu.

Though the group and its activities have been proscribed by the Nigerian Government led by President Buhari, IPOB and its members have continued to push for Biafra. The main aim of the group is to restore an independent state of Biafra in the former Eastern Region of Nigeria through an independence referendum.

On several occasions, Kanu, the leader of the group, who doubles as the Director of Radio Biafra, a radio station, the group uses in propagating the “gospel of Biafra”, has continued to present the agitation for the Republic of Biafra to the international community although with some unverified claims about happenings in Nigeria such as the alleged death of President Muhammadu Buhari.

On the backdrop of this, Naija News takes a look at some loyalists of Nnamdi Kanu that have tendered resignation from the various positions they occupied in the proscribed group so far.

Uche Mefor – IPOB Deputy Leader

Uche Mefor was the Deputy Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and was seen as Nnamdi Kanu’s right-hand man before his resignation. Mefor, who before his resignation, deleted his Facebook page, is said to have also floated a new radio station called: “Biafra Human Rights and Freedom Radio (BHFR)”.

The former IPOB leader seems not to have been okay with Kanu’s approach especially with his claims that Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari is dead and had since been replaced.

Before Mefor’s resignation, Kanu had said in the past that Mefor had on several occasions cautioned him on his claim that President Muhammadu Buhari was dead and had since been replaced byJubril Al-Sudanni from Sudan.

“I keep saying this every time, my Deputy, Uche Mefor will say don’t say it, don’t say that Buhari is dead“, Kanu had said during one of his broadcasts on Radio Biafra in February.

Amaka Ekwo – Nnamdi Kanu’s secretary and IPOB New Media & Special Duties Coordinator

Amaka Ekwo, the Press Secretary to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has resigned.

Naija News reports that Amaka was also the New Media & Special Duties Coordinator of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) before her resignation in a statement on the micro-blogging site, Twitter.

Without giving reasons for her resignation, Ekwo who was a very influential and active IPOB member called on IPOB members and pro-Biafra activists to “direct all enquiries relating to my former posts to the right people.”

Nnamdi Kanu’s former secretary tweeted: “Fellow IPOB activists, Thanks for the love & support you gave me for many years. I’m no longer the IPOB New Media & Special Duties Coordinator & Press Secretary to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader. Please direct all enquiries relating to my former posts to the right people.“

Meanwhile, Amaka’s resignation is coming at a time Uche Mefor has also tendered his resignation as the Deputy Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as reported earlier by Naija News.

Kalu Nwokoro Idika – IPOB Media Hitman

Kalu Nwokoro Idika was a former media hitman of the proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), who opened up on some secrets of Nnamdi Kanu and the pro-Biafra group.

The former IPOB media hitman who joined the media wing of IPOB after Kanu was arrested in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city before he was eventually sent to Kuje prison where he spent a year in detention, recounted why he abandoned Nnamdi Kanu and the pro-Biafra movement.

Idika described Kanu as a dictator and serial liar who has succeeded in deceiving and destroying the lives of many youths in the Southeast region of Nigeria.
