JUST IN: Court Gives Final Judgment On SERAP Suit Against NBC, Lai Mohammed

A case filed by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) against the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, and National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), has been dismissed by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Naija News reports that the Federal High Court said in its ruling on Friday, November 27, that SERAP has no locua standi in the case as it is not a part of the matter.

Apart from this, the presiding judge described the case brought before it by SERAP as “a mere academic exercise.”

Meanwhile, this online news platform recalls that SERAP approached the court to stop the N5million fine imposed on some broadcast stations for infractions during the #EndSARS protests coverage carried out by the broadcast stations especially Arise TV, AIT, and Channels TV.
