BREAKING: Associates Storm Court To Witness Verdict On N96b Fraud Case Against Amaechi

A Rivers State faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Igo Aguma has berated Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation, for failing to attend a Southsouth stakeholders’ meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari’s delegation.

Naija News reports that the federal government delegation led by Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari, had met with Southsouth governors on Tuesday at the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt.

Government officials and appointees from the region who were led by Gambari include, Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio; Minister of State Petroleum, Timipre Sylva; Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo, among others.

Southsouth governors at the meeting include the host, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike; Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki; Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa; Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri; Governor of Cross River, Ben Ayade and Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel.

Reacting in a statement through Livingston Wechie, his media adviser, Igo Aguma claimed that Amaechi was at the Port Harcourt airport to receive the Presidential delegation, escorted them to the Government House and disappeared.

While insisting that Amaechi cannot justify his ‘unfortunate’ absence, the APC chairman asked the minister to tender an apology to the people of Rivers State and his party for his “embarrassing action.”

“We condemn the absence of Rotimi Amaechi, the minister of Transportation from the Southsouth Stakeholders meeting with the Presidency which held in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, November 24, 2020,” he said.

“The absence of the minister of Transportation, who is supposed to be the minister representing Rivers State in the federal cabinet is most unfortunate as there can be no justification for his non-participation.

“The action of Amaechi is an evidence of the type of divisive and selfish leadership he is giving the APC in the state which is solely aimed at destroying the party at all cost for his personal gain in keeping with his vows,” he added.
