The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 720 people in possession of various items including local firearms and ammunition, cannabis and a drug suspected to be cocaine.

A statement issued by the Lagos State Police Spokesperson SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the arrests were made during a raid on Sunday morning in some areas suspected to be the hideouts of criminals in 14 areas. state.

The statement said some of the recovered items were believed to have been stolen during a series of shoplifting attacks during the EndSars protests in October.

State Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu has already ordered an investigation into the arrests to bring them to justice.

He also urged those who were robbed during the EndSars protest to come and check their belongings with proof of ownership.

He commended the state police for their commitment to the operation and urged them to be on high alert to carry out similar operations in the future.

The Nigerian police recently said that hoodlums 22 policemen after the EndSars protest and injured several others and that most of the injured were in critical condition.
