1. FG To Release 550 New Set Of Repentant Boko Haram Terrorists

550 repentant Boko Haram suspects have been rehabilitated and will be released into the society by the Nigerian military.

Naija News learnt that the federal government promised to release the new set of repentant Boko Haram terrorists this November as the presidency celebrate its technical victory over Boko Haram.

The Spokesperson for the Defence Headquarters, Major-General John Enenche, said the DRR programme under Operation Safe Corridor had recorded tremendous success judging from the feedback from previous trainees.

2. FG Owes 3,504 Contractors N69.9bn Says Fashola, Begs NASS For More Funds

The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola has told the National Assembly that the N76.4bn allocated to his ministry in 2021 budget will not be adequate.

This is as he revealed that the federal government through his ministry, is already owing 3,504 contractors handling various projects across the country the sum of N69.9bn.

Fashola made the disclosure on Thursday when he appeared before the joint National Assembly Committee on Housing, to defend his ministry’s 2021 budget figures.

3. Northern Insecurity Getting Out Of Hand, Military Filled With Betrayals – Army

The Nigerian army on Thursday called on Nigerians to pray for divine intervention as the insecurity situation in the North is getting out of hands in Nigeria.

The Army made the call during an interactive session with newsmen from Katsina and Zamfara state at the Special Army Super Camp in Faskari, Katsina state.

The Nigeria Army said the battle against insurgency in the north-west cannot be handled alone by the military or any security agency in the zone, adding that there are still betrayals even in the military.

4. Political Bandits Against APC’s Membership Registration – PGF DG, Lukman

The Director-General of the Progressives Governors Forum, Dr. Salihu Lukman, has lambasted those against the registration of new members for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recalls that a group of party supporters under the aegis of Concerned APC members, has threatened to take legal action should the Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee, proceed with the registration.

5. I Have No Plan To Sack UNILAG Workers – VC

The recently reinstated Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe has allayed fears of workers in the institution over plans to sack some workers.

Ogundipe who spoke on Thursday after re-resumed duties, denied any compilation of a list of workers to be sacked or punished.

6. #EndSARS: UK Reacts To Petition Against Nigerian Govt Officials

The UK government says it has taken notice of the petition filed against the Nigerian government by some of its people as regards the #EndSARS protests.

The petition which has over 200,000 signatures is calling for the UK government to impose sanctions and restrictions on government officials over their roles in the alleged abuse of power against #EndSARS protesters as well as the Lekki tollgate incident.

7. IPPIS: FG Cannot Fulfil Every Request Of ASUU – Ngige Tells Senate

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) cannot claim to be autonomous when lecturers are paid by the government, Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, said on Wednesday.

He said autonomy can only work when a university generates its resources to pay workers and meet its obligations.

8. Edo: Obaseki, Deputy Sworn-In For Second Term

Godwin Obaseki and Philip Shaibu have been sworn-in for a second term in office as the Governor and Deputy Governor of Edo State respectively.

The event, a low key one, held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Edo State, and the oath of office was administered by the State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Esther Edigin.

9. Kaduna State Imposes N1,000 Development Levy On Residents

All adult residents in Kaduna State will be made to pay N1,000 annual development fee as from 2021 the state government as disclosed.

The Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Dr. Zaid Abubakar disclosed this on Wednesday, noting that the levy is in line with the provision of Section 9 (2) of the Kaduna State Tax Codification and Consolidation Law, 2020.

10. Damboa Attack Was Perpetrated By Repentant Boko Haram Members – Ndume

The lawmaker representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume, on Wednesday expressed disappointment in the decision of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to rehabilitate repentant Boko Haram members.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army stated this while speaking at the closed-door budget defense session with the Nigerian Army.
