COVID-19: NCDC Issues Strong Warning To Nigerians Over Travelling

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has warned Nigerians against travelling to countries with a high burden of COVID-19 for the next one year.

Naija News reports that this was made known on Thursday by the Director-General of the NCDC, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu.

He stated this during the briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja.

According to the NCDC DG, Nigerians should stay at home until the situation improved across the world.

Dr. Ihekweazu advised Nigerians to limit the non-essential travels as we inch towards the end of the year, adding that non-essential trips should not be considered for the next 12 months.

He said: “Any trip outside the country, especially to countries with a higher prevalence of infection; if it is not absolutely necessary, if it is not essential, work-related before we even go for testing or not testing, we will advise that you wait another year.

“Do not travel, please; stay in Nigeria and let us make sure that we continue managing the situation like we have done so far.”

Naija News reports that countries such as the United Kingdom, France and Italy are experiencing a second wave of the deadly COVID-19 virus.
