A list making the rounds, purportedly showing the revised salary structure of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has been dismissed by the force.
The trending list shows that salaries for its officers has been increased, following the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The list puts the salary of a constable at N84,000, and that of a commissioner of police at N1.5 million.
In October, President Muhammadu Buhari directed the national salaries, income and wages commission to finalise the new salary structure for members of the force.
He gave the directive in accordance with one of the demands of the #EndSARS protesters, which called for an upward review of salaries of officers, in a bid to curb police brutality and harassment.
Following that, a list emerged on social media over the weekend, showing a new salary structure for police officers.
The force, however, asked the public to disregard the list making the rounds.
“Ignore the trending fake news, please,” it wrote.
