1. US Election: Joe Biden Wins

Democratic candidate Joe Biden has been declared the winner of the United States Election. Naija News reports that Biden Defeated Donald Trump with 284 to become the 46th president of the United States.

2. Okonjo-Iweala Reveals How Nigeria, Africa Can Evade Impact Of COVID-19 Pandemic

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former Nigerian Finance Minister has today highlighted six economic opportunities for Nigeria and other African countries can tap into to recover fully from the negative shocks of the pandemic. This, she made known at the 15th Convocation of Bowen University in Iwo, Osun State.

3. Two Die In Algeria Wild Fire

At least two people have been confirmed dead in the west of the Algerian capital, in a wildfire which started Friday night, the emergency services said Saturday. Every year, Algeria loses up to one percent of its vegetation to seasonal wildfires, according to the forestry department.

4. IGP Withdraws Police Escort Of Fani-Kayode, Babachir Lawal, 58 Others (See List)

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has directed the police escorts attached to some Nigerians including former Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and some other eminent personalities. Naija News understands the IGP’s latest directive on the withdrawal of the Police escorts affected 60 individuals.

5. NCDC Reveals Cause Of Strange Illness, Deaths In Delta, Enugu

The reports of a sudden spike in cases and deaths in some communities in Delta and Enugu states were due to yellow fever, the Nigeria Centre Disease Control (NCDC) has said. Naija News reports that strange illness and deaths were reported in Delta and Enugu states and in a release on Saturday, the NCDC said it is supporting these states to respond to the problem.

6. #EndSARS: Lagos Panel Suspends Sitting Over Frozen Bank Accounts

The Lagos State Panel of Judicial Inquiry probing the alleged shooting of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki tollgate has suspended its sitting following the absence of a youth member of the panel, Oluwarinu Rachael Oduala. Naija News understands that Oduala and other youth member representatives boycotted the sitting in reaction to a request by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) seeking to freeze accounts of 19 Nigerians and a public affairs company linked to the End SARS protests.

Mr. Olumide Akpata, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has condemned the federal government for clamping down on youths who allegedly promoted the #EndSARS protest. In a post on Facebook, Akpata described as unfortunate the hounding of #EndSARS promoters by the Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

8. Lawmakers Should Lose Their Seats Once They Defect – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recommended lawmakers in the national and state houses of assembly should be made to lose their seats, should they choose to defect from one party to another while in office. The electoral body gave this recommendation yesterday in Abuja at the presentation of its ‘Report of the 2019 General Election’.

9. Real Madrid Stars, Casemiro, Hazard Contract Coronavirus

Real Madrid players, Eden Hazard and Casemiro have tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Naija News reports that the Spanish club disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, November 7, saying that the coronavirus tests of the players were undertaken on Friday.

10. Inspector General Of Police Orders The Arrest Of Rahama Sadau

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has ordered the arrest and investigation of Rahama Sadau after a complaint was lodged with the police over a series of sexually explicit images of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). According to BBC, police have not been able to arrest Rahama contrary to some media reports, but strong sources indicate that she is trying to organize a team of her lawyers to take her to the police station.
