NYSC Breaks Silence On Postponing June Allowance

The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, on Thursday, disclosed that there will be strict adherence with COVID-19 measures at orientation camps.

The 2020 Batch B Stream one Orientation Course will commence nationwide November 10.

The Director General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, in his statement noted that the guidelines put in place by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) will be observed.

Ibrahim states this on Thursday at the pre-orientation workshop in Jos, Plateau State.

The Director of Public Relations, Adenike Adeyemi, quoted Ibrahim claiming that no corps members or staff have been infected since the virus started in Nigeria.

The DG of NYSC stated that in line with current realities, the forthcoming orientation camps will focus on proper induction of participants on core ideals of the youth programme.

Ibrahim added that the scheme would continue to evaluate the conduct of the orientation course and restrategize to enhance success.

Management is committed to ensuring that no camp records outbreak of the virus. The 2020 Batch ‘A’ Stream one orientation course was suspended abruptly on March, 18, 2020 to avoid the outbreak of COVID-19 in the orientation camps”, he said.
