1. We Knew About US Rescue Operation In Nigeria – Defence Minister

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd.) has declared that the recent rescue operation carried out by US special forces on Nigerian soil was done with the full blessings of the federal government.

Magashi made this known on Tuesday while speaking with newsmen shortly after he defended his Ministry’s 2021 budget figures before National Assembly lawmakers at the Senate.

2. FG Denies Placing #EndSARS Promoters On ‘No-Fly’ List

The Federal Government on Tuesday denied generating a ‘no-fly’ list against youths and persons involved in the recent #EndSARS protests that rocked the nation.

This was made known in a post on Twitter by the Federal Ministry of Interior.

“The Ministry of Interior did not, has not and will not generate any no-fly list. Ignore fake news, please!” @MinOfInteriorNG wrote.

3. COVID-19: We Will Impose Another Lockdown If… – Lagos State Govt

The Lagos State government on Tuesday warned residents of the state it may be forced to implement another COVID-19 lockdown if cases of coronavirus infections continue to increase.

The government warned that contrary to what some people have been made to believe, Nigeria has not totally overcome the coronavirus infection.

The Lagos State government in a statement by the Director, Public Affairs of the Ministry of Health, Tunbosun Ogunbanwo, quoted the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi as warning that if residents continue to disregard the covid-19 safety protocols, another lockdown may be imposed if there is a resurgence in cases.

4. Why Prisons Reject Suspects Sent By Police – Aregbesola

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has given reasons why Nigeria’s correctional facilities are rejecting new suspects sent to them by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Aregbesola stated that the nation’s prisons were rejecting suspects because the action of the police was not in compliance with the COVID-19 protocols.

He stated this on Tuesday in an interview with newsmen after defending his Ministry’s 2021 budget proposal before the Senate Committee on Interior.

5. Oyo Assembly Indefinitely Suspends 13 Council Chairmen

Oyo State House Assembly on Tuesday suspended 13 Caretaker Chairman across the Local Governments Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) in the state.

Naija News reports that the 13 council chairmen were suspended indefinitely.

The suspension was due to “non-compliance to the resolution of the House on submission of status of earthmoving equipment in their respective domains to the House as requested.”

6. Presidential Panel Wants Police Out Of EFCC, To End Magu Probe

The Justice Isa Ayo Salami Judicial Commission of Inquiry is set to conclude investigation into the activities of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) led by the suspend Ibrahim Magu.

Naija News reports that the panel which has been investigating Magu for about five months plans to conclude and submit its reports to President Muhammadu Buhari this week.

It was gathered that of the reports contains a recommendation to Buhari to no longer pick the head of the EFCC from the police.

7. Lekki Tollgate Shooting: Camera Stopped Working By 8pm – LCC

The Lekki Concession Company, on Tuesday disclosed that the surveillance camera at the Lekki toll gate stopped working at 8pm on October 20.

October 20 was the day soldiers allegedly shot at End SARS protesters in Lekki toll gate in Lagos State.

The managing director of LCC, Abayomi Omomuwa, disclosed this while appearing at the Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up by the Lagos State Government to probe the Lekki shootings, as well as complaints of human rights abuses against members of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

8. IGP Makes New Appointment, Redeploys Senior Police Officers

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has approved the posting of Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Sanusi N. Lemu, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Usman Alkali Baba, as DIG in-charge of the Department of Operations and Ag. DIG in-charge of Finance and Administration, respectively.

The promotion/posting of the Senior Officers is sequel to the recent vacuum occasioned by the retirement of their former Heads, DIG Abdulmajid Ali and DIG Abduldahiru Danwawu, after the completion of their statutory years of service.

9. #EndSARS: SERAP Threatens To Sue FG Over Social Media Bill

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has vowed to sue the federal government and Governors of the Northern region over the proposed social media bill.

SERAP in a series of tweets on Tuesday said the group would sue them if the social media bill is passed and signed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

10. Malami: Hoodlums Wearing Army Uniform Might Be Behind Lekki Massacre

Nigerians Minister of Justice, Malami Abubakar, has revealed that hoodlums wearing military attire might have been responsible for the shooting at Lekki Tollgate on October 20.

Abubakar, while speaking with newsmen late on Monday, November 2, said investigations are still on to ascertain what truly happened at the Lekki Tollgate.
