CAF President Ahmad Ahmad Tests Positive For COVID-19

Ahmad Ahmad, the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

This was made known in a statement on the website of the continental football governing body on Friday.

The statement read: “the president after his arrival to Cairo on Oct. 28, presented mild flu symptoms and submitted to the COVID-19 protocol.

“Today, the test results are positive and the president immediately self-isolate for at least the next 14 days at his hotel.

“All those who have come into contact with Ahmad over the past seven days, especially during his trip to Morocco for the Confederation Cup, have been informed and requested to take the necessary measures.”

Meanwhile, Naija News had earlier reported that CAF has picked a new date for the semi-final and final matches of the 2019/2020 African Champions League Games.

The semi-final return match between Zamalek of Egypt and Raja Casablanca of Morocco was adjourned from November 1st to a date to be decided because of the COVID-19 infection which inflicted many of the Raja squad, leaving only 10 fit players.

Zamalek lead 1-0 from the first leg in Casablanca with Moroccan Achraf Bencharki scoring the only goal midway through the first half.

CAF also announced that the final between Zamalek or Raja and Al Ahly of Egypt, scheduled for an Egyptian venue on November 6, has been postponed indefinitely.
