Eid-El-Maulud: President Buhari Sends Strong Message To All Muslims, Nigerians

President Muhammadu Buhari has enjoined admonished Muslim faithful to use the Eid-el-Maulud celebration period to reflect on the virtues of the Islam Prophet Muhammad by showing love and understanding for fellow citizens.

The president in his statement today ahead of the Eid-el-Maulud day, however, cautioned that Nigerians must not stretch their luck too far by neglecting COVID-19 protocols despite the victory recorded so far.

According to him, Nigeria’s economy is too fragile to bear another round of coronavirus lockdown.

Buhari further admonished all Muslims to exhibit patience, honesty, sincerity, kindness and generosity in all their undertakings while commemorating the birthday of Prophet Mohammed (SAW) which is being marked as public holiday. He urged all citizens, and the youth, in particular, to shun all negative tendencies as manifested in the recent hijacking of peaceful protests to loot and destroy public and private property.

The President again reassured Nigerians of his commitment to bring police officers responsible for misconduct as well as the looters to justice.

“Looking at the trends in the other countries, we must do all we can to avert the second wave of the pandemic. We must make sure that our cases, which have gone down, do not rise again. Our economy is too fragile to bear another round of lockdown,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved N2.9 billion contracts for the printing of sensitive and non-sensitive examination materials.

The council also approved N1.6bn for the rehabilitation and upgrade of some roads within the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
