5 Soldiers Killed As Troops Eliminate 38 Boko Haram Terrorists

Five soldiers have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of their fatherland, losing their lives during a fight between troops of the Nigerian military and Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.

It was also understood that 38 members of the terrorist group were eliminated in during the face-off between troops and the terrorists.

Naija News gathered the incident happened when the terrorists attempted to attack a military base in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State on Sunday evening.

Confirming the incident, a top military intelligence officer told PRNigeria that the operation against the terrorists involved ground troops and air components.

The source said: “I can confirm to you that the tactical joint operation involving the ground troops and the air component successfully eliminated scores of Boko Haram terrorists who attempted to attack a military post.

“While the ground troops fought them with superior weapons for more than two hours, fighter helicopters from the air tactical unit of the Nigerian Air force eliminated fleeing terrorists. So far, we have recovered gun trucks, RPG and other sophisticated weapons from the terrorists.”

Meanwhile, Naija News reports not less than 7 soldiers of the Nigerian Army have been killed while 14 others remain critically injured after troops ran into a Boko Haram ambush in Borno State.

Military sources said the troops were on a patrol of the Doska area in Borno State when they ran into the ambush resulting in casualties.
