The Nigerian Army’s Operation Fire Ball has killed 16 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in the north-eastern part of the country.

Bernard Onyeuko, the force’s deputy head of communications, made the announcement on Sunday in a statement, saying Operation Fire Ball is part of Operation Lafiya Dole, which is fighting terrorists.

Brigadier General Onyeuko said their forces destroyed four vehicles belonging to the insurgents and recovered ammunition boxes during the attack.

He said on October 21, they noticed some vehicles following behind their convoy on the way back to Baga refugee camp from Maiduguri, trying to infiltrate their position.

According to him, the soldiers attacked them immediately, killing three of them and destroying one of the guns.

Meanwhile, troops at the Army Super Camp in Magumeri killed 11 people in a clash and seized three anti-aircraft guns, Mr Onyeuko said.

It was after this clash that two others were killed while others escaped with serious injuries.

Six Boko Haram members were killed by security forces on Saturday in neighbouring Yobe State during a Boko Haram attack in the town of Babban Gida. One policeman lost his life in the clash.
