Governor Ben Ayde of Cross River State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the state.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Special Adviser Media and Publicity to the governor, Christian Ita.

Naija News reports that the curfew begins from 6pm yesterday, Friday.

The curfew was imposed following the hijacking of the peaceful protest against police brutality in the state by hoodlums.

“Residents of the state are advised to observe the curfew as security agents have been mandated to arrest anybody who flouts it,” the governor warned.

This online news platform reports that thugs had looted the state government’s warehouse on Bishop Moinagh Avenue on Friday.

They carted away bags of rice, garri, cartons of noodles among other commodities.

The declaration of curfew in Cross River was coming at a time when states like Edo, Lagos and Osun were relaxing the curfew their governments had earlier imposed.
