The government of Abia State under the leadership of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has approved the reopening of all schools in the state as from Monday, October 26, 2020.

This development was disclosed in a statement on Monday, 19th October by the Secretary to the State Government.

The statement confirmed that Governor Ikpeazu approved the reopening of all schools in the state including tertiary institutions as from October 26.

The Governor also directed all school heads must ensure strict observance of COVID-19 procedures and guidelines in their various institutions in order to curtail further spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has directed all private and public schools in the state to stay at home as a result of the security situation occasioned by the #EndSARS protests.

The directive, which was contained in a statement on Monday by the state Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo noted that the safety of the students, teachers, and parents is of utmost importance to the government.
