A former Presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, has sued Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey for $1bn  for supporting the #EndSARS campaign.

Naija News reports that protesting youths in Nigeria are agitating for the end to Police brutalization and extra judicial killings of Nigerians. The protesters have been on the streets for six days now, protesting the brutalities, humiliation, and extortion of Nigerians, especially the youths.

The protesters demanded an end to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a police unit under the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department headed by the Deputy Inspector General of Police Anthony Ogbizi, using a hashtag: #EndSARS.

On Sunday, October 11, 2020, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu disbanded SARS following a widespread protest from Nigerians worldwide.

However, since the announcement that SARS has been scrapped, the protesters have refused to leave the streets, which Sagay says might force the Federal Government to take drastic measures against the protesting youths.

On Wednesday, Twitter CEO lent his voice to the struggle by tweeting #EndSARS and thereafter, verified four front liners of the campaign. He also called for donations to help the campaign.

Displeased with the development, Garba had on the same day, threatened to drag the Twitter CEO to court for supporting the protest, adding that #EndSARS has been hijacked as is now a political movement.

Today, Tuesday, October 19, the former Presidential aspirant released a document showing that he has sued the Twitter CEO, demanding ” a fine of $1bn dollars in favour of Federal Republic of Nigeria, as a compensation for loss of lives, properties and convenience” as a result of his “active support for funding of #EndSARS after the issues are being attended to by the government.”

Garba tweeted: “Dear @jack, Here’s your motion of notice, a fine of $1Bn dollars in favour of Federal Republic of Nigeria, as a compensation for loss of lives, properties & convenience as a result your active support for funding of #EndSARS after the issues is been attended to by the Government

“Under a clear mark of gross abuse of privilege, you used your platform to instigate a protest that have now turned into breakdown of law and order in Nigeria. You must publish public apology to Nigerian government and people for violating our sovereignty to peace & security.

“You have violated the international principles of nationhood & democracy, by meddling into our local affairs, knowing fully well that these is capable of toppling the democratically elected government of the day, slowing us down from progress on our hard-earned democracy journey.

“I trust that the Federal High Court of Nigeria will serve you the motion accordingly. You should get ready and pay the fine as compensation once you receive the motion accordingly. See you in court. Thank you. @adamugarba, Nigerian Citizen,” he tweeted.
