Illegal Detention: Court Orders Substituted Service On AGF, DSS And CG Of Correctional Service

Aminu Hayatu Tafida (Baffa), the son of Special Adviser on Social Investments to Governor Aminu Tambuwal, has been remanded by a Sokoto Chief Magistrate Court.

Tafida was remanded for alleged rape, recording and circulating the video on social media.

Tafida was earlier remanded by Magistrate Shuaibu Ahmed for two weeks ago.

The police prosecution officer, ASP Samuel Sule, asked for adjournment to conclude investigation when the case came up for mentioning.

The case was adjourned to November 4, 2020 following request by the police prosecution officer ASP Samuel Sule to enable conclusion of investigation.

The Magistrate, granted the appeal of ASP Sule as lawyers of the defence council did not object.

Also, three other accused persons were granted bail till 4/11/2020 when the case will be up for further mentioning.

Tafida was alleged to have committed the offence sometimes in 2017 but released the video three years after when the victim’s dowry had been paid and time fixed for her marriage.

The purported circulation of her nude video, according to the family of the lady, led to the calling off of her marriage.

In his suit, the prosecutor, ASP Sule charged the Special Adviser’s son, alongside his friends with act of gross indecency, abetment, sale of obscene book and printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory contrary to sections, 60(2), 377, 262, 48, 171, 173 and 379 of the Sokoto State Penal Code, 2019.
