The Ondo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mrs Grace Akpabio, on Thursday, October 15 during the passing out parade of the 2019 Batch ‘C’ (Stream 1), announced that three corps members died in the state while serving the nation.

Akpabio disclosed further that the one-year mandatory service of four other corps members in the state has been extended for violation of the service rules and regulations.

Also, five other corps members will repeat the complete one year exercise for allegedly absconding from service.

The NYSC coordinator, however, confirmed that 1,727 deserving corps members consisting of 831 males and 896 females will be issued their Certificate of National Service. Speaking about the passing out corps members at the Akure Zonal Office where the low key ceremony took place in strict observance of COVID -19 protocols, the NYSC Coordinator admonished them to choose the path of truth and honour in their future endeavours.

He said, “You cannot stand aloof and expect miracles to happen in this country. You have to support the government of the day so that empowerment programmes and other interventions will take us to higher heights with your active participation in governance”.

“The Federal Government under the present disposition has promulgated a law of not too young to run for the elective positions in the country, and your participation will reduce all the electoral malaise we are currently witnessing.”
