Major Points IGP Made While Promising SARS Wouldn’t Be Part Of SWAT Yesterday

In a series of tweets yesterday,  five cardinal points which are alleged to be the mandate of the new Police unit were released.

Recall on Monday, NaijaNews reported that Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), on Tuesday set up a new tactical unit to replace the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Ortom Gives Condition To Forgive Oshiomhole In 10bn Suit

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Wednesday disclosed that he is ready to forgive former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole if he apologises for his statement against him.

The Peoples Democratic Party Governor stated this while speaking with newsmen during the distribution of 46 vehicles to 23 local government chairmen and leaders of the State House of Assembly in Makurdi.

Former minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, Femi Fani-Kayode, has noted that things may fall apart if the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government fails to handle the protest against police brutality with seriousness.

There have been speculations that the ongoing protest against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad across states in the country may soon become uncontrollable.

#EndSARS: Buhari Government Not Ready To Respect Nigerians Rights – Falana

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, on Wednesday noted that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government is not ready to respect the rights of Nigerians.

Falana during an interview on Channels TV also condemned the current government for creating the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, to replace the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Unit (SARS).

SWAT Has Been In Existence Since 2018 – Nnamdi Kanu

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has stated that the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad which has been replaced with the Special Weapons and Tactics are the same.

Kanu further stated that the newly formed unit of the police has been existence since 2018.
