Former APC Presidential Aspirant Threatens To Sue Twitter CEO For Supporting #EndSARS

A former Presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba has threatened to drag Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey, for supporting #EndSARS campaign.

Naija News reports that protesting youths in Nigeria are agitating for the end to Police brutalization and extra judicial killings of Nigerians. The protesters have been on the streets for six days now, protesting the brutalities, humiliation, and extortion of Nigerians, especially the youths.

The protesters demanded an end to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a police unit under the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department headed by the Deputy Inspector General of Police Anthony Ogbizi, using a hashtag: #EndSARS.

On Sunday, October 11, 2020, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu disbanded SARS following a widespread protest from Nigerians worldwide.

However, since the announcement that SARS has been scrapped, the protesters have refused to leave the streets, which Sagay says might force the Federal Government to take drastic measures against the protesting youths.

On Wednesday, Twitter CEO lent his voice to the struggle by tweeting #EndSARS and thereafter, verified four front liners of the campaign. He also called for donations to help the campaign.

Displeased with the development, Garba took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to call on Dorsey to stay away from Nigerian politics, adding that #EndSARS has been hijacked as is now a political movement.

The former APC Presidential aspirant tweeted: “Dear @jack

“It’ll do you a lot more good if you stay away from Nigerian Politics. You should know that the so-called #EndSARS protest have transformed into political agitation, capable of breaking law & order in our country. You should not be a moral & financial sponsor to this.

“This is Nigeria, most of the demands initially presented was attended to by the responsible authorities. SARS no longer exist in this country.

Your support for a disbanded entity was a needless interference. We cannot allow killings again in Nigeria in the name of protests.

“I understand that this may play well to your business, you have more content, more people & more activity on your platform, but to us is about life, peace & security of our dear Country, we cannot allow you to be part of the people sponsoring disorder. We need peace & prosperity.

“I can see you are even sharing a link for people to donate money for this protest, an event capable of escalation beyond our already overstretched security management.

If this protest continued to evolved into disorder (hopefully not). As a Nigerian citizen, we’ll meet in court
